Until the end of 2008 Carole served in the Lutheran church as an ordained Minister specializing in Youth and Family Ministry.   Life as she knew it ended with Carole's family life being shattered by substance abuse, divorce courts, and finally bankruptcy.  With two young kids to raise and support, Carole set out in a new direction with a new life mission - helping others survive many of the same challenges she herself experienced and overcame.

About Carole

Parenting/Co-parenting

 Coach Services

Down to earth, non-judgmental, caring assistance based on personal experience and 23 years of experience with other parents and families.

In a Parenting Coach relationship, you decide.
Recommendations are made, but the final decisions are yours.

Parenting Coach services are available for:

General Parenting Questions - parenting is the hardest job you will ever love.  But kids don't come with instruction manuals and every situation is different and complicated.  Sifting through the number of parenting books available on parenting is overwhelming.  So where do you go for down to earth, practical advice or when you just need another perspective?       contact me

Co-Parenting before, during, and after divorce - In divorce, you're ending the marriage, not the family.  Your children still have the same mother and the same father.  The family still exists, it just doesn't live under the same roof any more.  Even though you are no longer legally tied to your former spouse, your children are emotionally tied to both of you. They still need both of you. How do you provide a safe, healthy atmosphere that is critical for the well-being of your children without all of the
conflict that normally comes with divorce?

Self Care - The last time you flew, you heard it from the flight attendant.  "In the event of sudden loss of cabin pressure, oxygen masks will fall from ceiling.  Place your mask over your mouth and nose first and breath normally.  Then assist your children with theirs."  While it is counter intuitive to put yourself first, the idea is simple; if you are unconscious, you cannot possibly help anyone else.  Self care isn't a luxury.  It is a necessity.  You can not be the best possible parent you can be if you yourself are not functioning at your best.
So how do you do it?

Parenting Consultant /Coordinator
Emphasizing acceptance, building trust, fostering communication and teaching co-parenting for the benefit of your children.
When divorce enters the picture, it is vital that conflict be kept as far away from the kids as possible. You have divorced or are divorcing your spouse, not your kids.  You have now entered into a "co-parenting" relationship.  Just as you had to learn how to drive a car, you now have to learn a new way of being a parent to your children, - co-parenting.  How do you work collaboratively with the very person you are trying to get away from so that your kids don't get hurt?  I can help you learn to co-parent without bringing the kids into the middle.

As Parenting Consultant, it is my job to listen carefully to both sides, review all of the relevant information (including instructions by the Court), investigate where necessary and make decisions based on what is best for the children involved.  These decisions can be filed with the court.  However, the goal of a Parenting Coordinator is to work with both parties and find common ground before things must be "set in stone". contact me

Family Mediation Services
Qualified Mediator under Minnesota Rule 114.

Trained in Mediation at Hamline Law School, Mediation Center, I offer an alternative to litigation.  Mediation is a process that promotes healthy, voluntary, uncoerced decision making.  It allows you to come to your own decisions about children and co-parenting, finances, and property; rather than having those decisions taken out of your hands by the court.
